A Simple Card

Threw this card together tonight while talking to 

my mom on the phone!

worked well for a birthday card...

A Birthday Celebration!

This last weekend we celebrated my oldest daughter's 19th birthday!  It was so good to have her home for more than just 1 day!

We started the fun by going out for dinner at a locally owned Italian restaurant called Savvy's.  YUMMY!  Last week my husband stopped in the place and asked if they made gnocchi - that's my daughter's favorite Italian meal.  When he explained why he was asking, they said that they would have it especially for us on Saturday night!  That was so cool!  This place is AWESOME!  The prices are so reasonable, especially considering they give you enough in one portion to really have 4 meals!  It really is amazing!

Then they have these garlic knots - you can see them on the edge of DD plate - are wonderful!

DESSERT KNOTS!

Deep fried dessert bread, rolled in powdered sugar & topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream!

Mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!

So, after we rolled ourselves home, DD opened her gifts.

I didn't have any good wrapping paper, so I just stamped some butterflies onto newspaper stock from the local paper in her favorite color and added tulle ribbons.  I like this look!  I will be doing this again!

Here's a picture of her card I made.

The ribbon rose was made using a strip of torn muslin.  The edges of the card papers and the muslin rose are distressed a bit with Torn Paper distressing ink by Tim Holtz - love that stuff!  (sorry for the poor lighting again!)

After church on Sunday we had some of our closest friends over for a little party.  She really enjoyed catching up with everyone again ~ it's been way too long!

Here she is with her loot, and her dog (which is now our dog cuz she couldn't take her with her).

They grow up so fast!  It seems like just yesterday she was running around the house playing dress-up and "store"...

Happy Birthday, Mom!

I know it's a little late (in more ways than one), but here it is. I made this card for my mom's birthday but couldn't post it until I was sure she received it....which she did, but late. Used another Mojo Monday sketch for this one.

I also posted some Christmas stuff below. I think when I messed with the time stamp on my post, it messed up the auto notification. We're expecting a big storm tonight, just in case you haven't heard. This means my daughter probably won't make it home for Christmas Eve. I knew the day would come when we couldn't be together for Christmas, but I just didn't figure it would happen so soon. But not a whole lot you can do about the weather, so we'll just make the most of it. Hopefully it will be cleared out enough on Christmas Day to make it to her and to Jim's family.

JustRite Mojo Monday

My very good friend's birthday is this week, so it was the perfect opportunity to break out my new JustRite stamps and play! Honestly, it took me a while to figure out how to use them without smudging everything, but just like with many stamps, you may need to "season" it before you actually use it on a project.

I used the Mojo Monday card sketch as the springboard for this card...made a few changes as you will see. But I actually chose to use this sketch for a very specific reason. My friend is always teasing me about how linear I am.... I hardly EVER use circles on my cards or on my scrapbook pages. So I made a point to show her that I really can do it! I am getting better! And the Nestabilities die cuts really help with that! LOVE 'EM!

Front of card:

I changed the length of the strips accross the front (you can hardly see the thin lace in the picture), and put the pearl accents in the upper corner instead.

The center of the large circle is popped up, as well as the small circle with the butterfly on it depth. Also added glitter to the transparent butterfly sticker.


The paper is actually a scrapbook page kit that I found at the Dollar Store a couple years ago. Love the colors and the stickers! Don't know why it took me so long to use this stuff! The friend sentiment stamp is from the See-D's Victorian Flourishes set.

Willow for Hannah!

Our godchild turned 3 on Sunday! Time sure flies...It seems like just yesterday that she was born!

This card was made using the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #81 and Whiff of Joy's Willow in the Summer Breeze stamp, and KI Memories paper. Hannah's favorite color is pink, so naturally I had to go crazy with PINK!

Hey Chick!

This card was a lot of fun to make!! I think it's the bright colors and the cute little chick that just made me smile the whole time I was making it... just like the person it was made for! She is always there with a smile and a warm hello!

Bubble Bunny

Mojo Monday is celebrating their 100th by posting card sketches every day this week. I really like using sketches - helps to narrow down the options and keep me focused!

I LOVE this little stamp from House-Mouse! You can't see it too well from the pictures, but I used Close To My Heart's Liquid Glass on the bubbles - the glitter is about all that you can see here. Just sprinkled some Martha Stewart purple glitter on the wet Liquid Glass & let dry. I like the effect! It looks much better in person, tho... Also popped up the stamped cardstock for some depth.

The inside says, "It's your birthday...relax." Hmmmmmm....doesn't that look tempting!

Calgon, take me away! :)

Holy Cow, It's Another Birthday!

Ever since my youngest daughter was a wee one, my dad had a running dialog with her about holstein cows. Anytime he was with her (which wasn't often enough since my parents live in Colorado), sometime...somehow the conversation would turn to holstein cows. And then they started exchanging holstein gifts at Christmas! It's very cute, and something she

will always remember about her Grampa.

So that is what has inspired the birthday card I made for my dad! I used the Taylored Expressions card sketch #78:

Stamps are from TAC and everything else is from my scraps. The inside says, "It's just another birthday." I think it will get a chuckle! Happy Birthday, DAD!

FINALLY got around to using a stamp from this gorgeous Whiff of Joy set! You can find the link to their website on my sidebar.

But I cannot take credit for the design of this card - yes, I'm guilty of SCRAPLIFTING! I think I need to join, or start, the support group SCRAPLIFTERS ANONYMOUS! :)

I am an avid follower of Bev's blog All The Things I Love, which is where I found the inspiration for this card. Bev is on the design team for Whiff of Joy.

3 Birthday Cards

I really like this paper! It's from the Garden Party slab by DCWV. Can you see the sparkles? Love the vibrant colors!

Hope you all are enjoying the warm weather that is finally here! I was beginning to wonder if we were going to have a summer this year or not. At least things are nice and green now with all the rain we've been getting ~ there is always a silver lining, right!

Father's Day & Birthday Cards

A couple Father's Day Cards to post today. This one will be going to my DH's dad:

I liked that paper so much that I made my brother's birthday card with it, too! Added some blue as a contrast color:
The paper is 2-sided, so I will be adding the sentiment on a different piece of cardstock on the inside.
I have 2 more birthday's coming up this month...I think...maybe more. So will be posting again soon!

EEEK! There's A Mouse in the House!!!!

But these mice won't tear up your paper and make a mess in your house!  Aren't these stamps the cutest!  This card is for my daughter's birthday - she love critters!  The inside of the card says, "You make life fun!" - which she does!

This card is for my niece's birthday, who was born 2 days before my daughter!  She loves bright colors and polka dots....this card just about covers both!

Hubby's B-day Card

My wonderful husband's 41st birthday is this Wednesday so I threw together a card for him tonight. Considering the fact that I didn't have much time or energy to make it (not feeling 100%), it didn't turn out too bad!

I bought the chipboard pieces last weekend at the Dollar Store. Front's a bit cheese-y, but not too bad. Hopefully he doesn't think it's too girly with the flower on it! Oh well....I like it! :) Hope you do, too!
