It's Almost That Time!

Time for the
Rosette Swap Party!!!

This weekend I put the finishing touches
on my package, going to a
not-too-distant land.

I am a little (ok, very!) apprehensive
about the whole thing...

Will she like what I made?

Will she be able to tell that this is my first swap?

It has been a blast
looking at her blog, learning about her
and her family, and trying to put together
a package of goodies she will enjoy!

In the midst of all this excitement
I made this card for a friend.

(the actual color of the flower is much closer to the color of the printed paper)

I had watched a YouTube demo by
Tresa Black,
Close To My Heart's "Stamp Goddess"
on how to make round cards
and thought I'd give it a try.

I had also heard about making these "squished" flowers
so I made mine out of book print and
sprayed it with Glimmer Mist.

Of course I had to throw some pearls on there...
Can't get enough of 'em!

Per Deb's request, here are the super-easy instructions
for making, what I term "squished" flowers!  :)

First, I punched several 2" scalloped circles
from old book pages.
Punched a hole in the center of all punches
(I used my Big Bite).
Then I sprayed them with Glimmer Mist (you can use plain water if you want to leave them natural).
Then, you SQUISH them!!!
Un-squish & hook together with a brad.
SQUISH again until you get the look you like.
That's it!  Easy-Peasy!

Please let me know you came for a visit....
It's always a joy to hear from you!!!

Rose Tutorials

Just a quick post today to share a couple blogs I found that have great tutorials on making roses!  One is using fabric, and the other is with stained or dyed used fabric softner sheets!  And yet another using crepe paper!  I haven't had the chance to try any of them yet but plan to in the near future!

Isn't this gorgeous!  Found this at Lori Katies Rose Cottage!

She also provided the link for these beauties
over at Everyday Chaos here!

And just look at these paper roses made by Terri of Artful Affirmations
Her blog has a video tutorial on how to make these pretty little things!

Donna at Brynwood Needleworks also shared her tutorial for roses!  Check it out ~ they're so elegant!  Thanks Donna!

This weekend I hope to be finished with painting my stairwell  inside of our back door.  Will be taking before and after pictures to share.  I really don't like to paint, and this project has been looming over my head for quite some time now.  It will be nice to be done with it so we can enjoy it!  Here's hoping I can get it finished!!!

I hope you all have a wonderfully relaxing weekend!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Warmly,
Lori

A Blessed Event!

Today was a day to celebrate!  A friend became a member of our church!  It was a long awaited event ~ 20 years in the making!  It was a beautiful service, called Chrismation, and afterwards we had a celebration with food and fellowship!  It is always a joy to see the Church family grow!

When I first started blogging, my focus was mainly on scrapbooking and cardmaking.  I am still actively doing both, although not as often as I would like.  So, here is the card I made for today's occasion.

I really love this new paper from Close To My Heart!  It is the Creative Basics Veranda Collection.  The cross was embossed on Vanilla Cream cardstock with clear embossing powder.  Then I used a sponge to add Juniper ink shading.  And I just can't use my Nestabilities die-cuts enough ~ LOVE 'em!

The card actually reminds me of vintage wallpaper!  And the ribbon a chair rail!  Of course I had to add distress ink along the edges to give it a bit of an aged look.

I hope you are having a wonderful and relaxing weekend!

Finally Finished!

Last weekend I started another paper rose project and finally got it finished this week. I'm very happy with how my topiary turned out! My daughter who was visiting for the day yesterday actually thought that I had bought it from a local home decor shop here in town ~ quite the compliment! I will be posting this on Etsy soon, although it is awfully tempting to just keep it...
