I Am Amazed!

In January of this year I had no idea
what I was getting into!

That was when I changed the focus of my blog
from strictly scrapbooking and card making
to include decorating and crafting...

It has been an amazing adventure!
And I never dreamed it would come this far!

I really didn't think I had anything to offer...
and I still think that!
I have had a wonderful time
getting to know so many incredibly talented ladies...

I am amazed!

I am amazed at your creativity...

I am amazed at your willingness to share...

I am amazed at your warm hearts
so ready to find a new friend!

And I'm amazed that I've reached
100 followers!
I think this is reason to celebrate!

As a thank you for joining me in this grand adventure,
I will be having another giveaway SOON!
My schedule is full for the next 2 weeks
with my daughter's graduation from high school
and family visiting from Colorado.
So stay tuned!
Detail to come!

I hope you all have a wonderful
Memorial Day Weekend!
May we never forgot those who gave their service
and their lives for our freedom!

Until next time, my friends!

Guest Room Re-do

*** Don't forget to enter my ***
***Cottage Charm Giveaway***
Time is running out!

Well, it's been a busy week!  And will be busy yet until after the weekend!  But that's ok - it's a good busy!  We're getting ready for my parents and my brother to visit us from Colorful Colorado, and to celebrate with us the graduation of my darling daughter!

Part of that prep has been getting our guest room shaped up.  On Saturday afternoon I removed the horse border that outlined the room.  It really made the room seem bigger!  WOW!  And after the walls were washed, they really weren't in that bad of shape.  I was going to paint, but just don't have time to tackle that project just now.  So I decided, since the paint is still decent, let's work with it!  I am planning on using browns and robin's egg blue in here eventually, so male guests aren't too freaked out by being surrounded by so much PINK in my house!  It's everywhere!  But this will be a good alternative.  I don't think it's too over-powering...
but then, I'm a woman!

You may remember a post awhile ago (*HERE*) about finding something WONDERFUL while out rummage sale-ing last summer for my oldest daughter's new apartment???
I don't think I ever actually posted what that was...

Until now!

I found this beauty sitting on the side of the road,
with a big "FREE" sign on it,
just waiting for me to pick it up!

When I stopped to gawk, I asked the kind lady that was cleaning her garage if this dresser really was free for the taking.  I just couldn't believe my eyes!

Just look at all the chippy white goodness here!
I was giddy with excitement!
It was just meant to be!
We also found my daughter's kitchen table here ~
also free!

As I was cleaning my playroom, I came accross this candle holder that I found at a thrift shop some time ago.  Just added a clip-on earring from my stash of embellishments to jazz it up a bit!

But I still needed something for the other shelf...
something simple...
           something white!

This is what I came up with real quick.

PERFECT!
The egg is paper mache from my stash,
and the letters are actually brads that I just
poked down into the grass!
Would have used Scrabble pieces if I had them
but these will do just fine!

Then I placed my plate of altered candles in the middle.

ALL DONE!

Here is the other side of the room:

Some day, hopefully soon, I will be making some pictures to hang on the wall
~ altered canvas with sheet music & other goodies.
Yet again, no time to tackle that project...
Just add it to the never-ending list!

I'm linking up again with Kathleen of Faded Charm
for White Wednesday!
Please take some time and see all the beautiful
participants ~ you won't be disappointed!
It's so much fun!

I hope you have a
Wonderfully White Wednesday!

Warmly,
Lori

A Gift from a Sweet Friend

This week I was given a gift from a special friend!

Now, when she said she had something for me,
I was not surprised.
Kim is always looking for bargains and usually finds some really cool stuff!
She is a generous soul, and always shares her finds
with those around her.

A beautiful cross necklace!

I don't think it's vintage, but it sure has that look,
which I love!
It looks like someone may have made this piece...

This will definitely be getting some wear time!

Thank you, Kim!  I will treasure it!

Looks like a busy weekend ahead!
Getting ready for my daughter's high school
graduation party next weekend.
Lots to do!

But I wonder if I can get a rummage sale or two in.....
Wouldn't want to miss anything, you know!

Yard Whites

Just a couple pics from around my yard today.
It's still a little cool around here to plant anything
so it still is a little bare.
At least the sun is shining more!

I LOVE bunnies!

This was at our house when we moved in 9 years ago.
SCORE!

I will be putting a potted plant or two on the ladder.

My duck family!

Another bunny!

And some more bunnies!
More potted plants will be on this cart.

And my Lily of the Valley.
Wish these hung around longer!

Some beautiful silver coasters in a handy little caddy!

Fun jewelry to be used in altered projects!
And a large lace tablecloth!

A bag full of silver (I've always wanted to make one of those windchimes, so now may be the time!)

A basket full of all kinds of sewing notions!

A wood frame, boy figurine, and a funky hanging light ~
All will be getting a fresh coat of white, hopefully soon!
(big plans for the crazy light!!! - can't wait to start!)

And a gorgeous, HUGH, gilded frame!
Will this be white, too???  Hmmmmm....
What do you think?

All together now!

We had so much fun!  And we didn't even leave our neighborhood!
I always enjoy garage-sale season!

White Wednesday

Another White Wednesday is here!  My favorite day of the week!  And my most busy day of the week!  Usually it gets here & I scramble to get my post up & ready...where does the time go?

This past Sunday night my husband & I took a mini-getway to Door County!  We had a wonderful time!  The major thing we wanted to accomplish was to visit one of my favorite antique malls.  I hadn't been there in several years because we usually visit Door County on the off-season to avoid the crowds...and my shop is closed!  UGH!  But this time,
WE MADE IT!
Hooray!!!

I almost didn't notice this jar of goodies sitting high upon a shelf...

looking like it had been long forgotten.

There wasn't a whole lot inside...

but enough to make my heart start racing when I spied it!

I think my husband thought I was crazy for getting so excited about
a few scraps and some spools of thread!
But it was so worth it!

Not just for the treasures inside, but mostly for the
scent that took me back to Gramma's farm house in Ohio!
I just kept sticking my nose inside
& deeply breathing it in!

My daughter came home for Mother's Day and brought her favorite White with her...

Meet MAXIMUS!

Max is a 3-month-old Husky/Sheepdog mix and full of energy!
I was able to get him to slow down long enough to snap a couple good pictures.
Isn't he a cutie!

He's going to be a handful!
And HUGE!!!
But for a pup he was surprisingly well behaved!

Be sure to head over to Faded Charm to see all the other White Wednesday pretties!
And may your day be Wonderfully White!

                      Warmly,
                              Lori
