White Wednesday 101

Last weekend was our annual
neighborhood rummage sale!

I did not have time to put together my own sale,
nor did I have much time to plunder, unfortunately.

But I did manage to find a couple
of white treasures to share for

I'm always on the look-out for
crocheted doilies,
tablecloths,
and vintage jewelery
to use in my crafting!

I think this pin would look nice on a journal.

Cameos are ALWAYS a good find!

And isn't she adorable!
Another good journal or
altered canvas piece!

But here is my favorite find!

A crocheted lace and pearl collar!

I don't think I could have too many of these!

Even though I really don't know what
I will do with them.
Do you have any suggestions???

Happy White Wednesday Hugs!

Beach Dreamin' on White Wednesday

Lately I've been dreaming of sunny days on the beach,
remembering visits to Florida
and collecting seashells along the shore.
(probably because we've been having more rain than sunshine here!)

My mom bought this candlabra for me
last week on one of our treasure hunts!
I love the center bowl that can be
changed with the season!
THANKS MOM!

We also found this chippy wire chair!

And then filled my jar with memories!

See other White Wednesday goodness
over at Faded Charm!

Have a wonderful day!

My Loot of Treasures!

If you haven't signed up for my giveaway yet, click here!  Winner will be announced on Saturday, May 29th!

Last Saturday my daughter & I went rummage sale-ing!
What fun we had!  Found lots of treasure ~ all for $25!

Here's just a sample of some of the goodies we found.
(some of the ho-hum stuff is not pictured)

A beautiful Bavarian plate, a sweet little trinket box for my daughter (she collects little boxes), and the smallest little salt shaker I think I've ever seen!

Some beautiful silver coasters in a handy little caddy!

Fun jewelry to be used in altered projects!
And a large lace tablecloth!

A bag full of silver (I've always wanted to make one of those windchimes, so now may be the time!)

A basket full of all kinds of sewing notions!

A wood frame, boy figurine, and a funky hanging light ~
All will be getting a fresh coat of white, hopefully soon!
(big plans for the crazy light!!! - can't wait to start!)

And a gorgeous, HUGH, gilded frame!
Will this be white, too???  Hmmmmm....
What do you think?

All together now!

We had so much fun!  And we didn't even leave our neighborhood!
I always enjoy garage-sale season!

Hope you had a warm, sunny weekend!
It was so good to see the sun again!
Thanks for stopping by!

White Wednesday

Another White Wednesday is here!  My favorite day of the week!  And my most busy day of the week!  Usually it gets here & I scramble to get my post up & ready...where does the time go?

This past Sunday night my husband & I took a mini-getway to Door County!  We had a wonderful time!  The major thing we wanted to accomplish was to visit one of my favorite antique malls.  I hadn't been there in several years because we usually visit Door County on the off-season to avoid the crowds...and my shop is closed!  UGH!  But this time,
WE MADE IT!
Hooray!!!

I almost didn't notice this jar of goodies sitting high upon a shelf...

looking like it had been long forgotten.

There wasn't a whole lot inside...

but enough to make my heart start racing when I spied it!

I think my husband thought I was crazy for getting so excited about
a few scraps and some spools of thread!
But it was so worth it!

Not just for the treasures inside, but mostly for the
scent that took me back to Gramma's farm house in Ohio!
I just kept sticking my nose inside
& deeply breathing it in!

My daughter came home for Mother's Day and brought her favorite White with her...

Meet MAXIMUS!

Max is a 3-month-old Husky/Sheepdog mix and full of energy!
I was able to get him to slow down long enough to snap a couple good pictures.
Isn't he a cutie!

He's going to be a handful!
And HUGE!!!
But for a pup he was surprisingly well behaved!

Be sure to head over to Faded Charm to see all the other White Wednesday pretties!
And may your day be Wonderfully White!

                      Warmly,
                              Lori

Get-Away to MadTown!

I must say that the past 2 days have been the best I've had in a very long time!
Spending some quality time with my daughter was the absolute best!!!
We had a great time in Madison!

On the way there, we stopped for lunch in Beaver Dam.  A friend recommended we eat at Benvenuto's ~ and boy, am I glad we found this place!  Thanks for the tip, Suzanne!!!  We almost didn't find it ~ it was quite by accident actually.  I just pulled off on one of the exits for Beaver Dam because I was going to look for a little antique or specialty shop, but we couldn't find any.  So we pulled out the trusty Tom Tom and looked for the restaurant.  Couldn't remember the name Suzanne gave me, but knew I would recognize it if I saw it.  And wouldn't you know that it was right there where we had pulled off!  Just tucked back behind another restaurant so it was hard to see.

They had yummy bread with dipping oil

Taylor had Shrimp Capallini

and I had Spinach Ravioli with BOTH marinara & alfrado sauce
(the alfrado was the BEST!)

Our hotel was right across the street from The Alliant Energy Center where the concert was to be!  How nice was that!!!!  We had GREAT seats!  Right in the middle, row M...PERFECT!

(This is our view of the stage from our seats!  WOW!)

We weren't able to take pictures during the show...bummer!

And Celtic Woman is beyond words ~ what an amazingly talented group of musicians!
Their voices were heavenly, and that violinist ~ WOW!
She danced and jumped and spun around, all while playing the violin with amazing perfection!

Here is a link to a video of them singing "Danny Boy."  I tried to figure out how to actually place the video on my blog, but couldn't.  I'm a bit technically challenged...

I picked this particular song because it struck a soft spot in my heart.  My father-in-law, Dan, is dying of prostate cancer.  It won't be much longer until he is Home with his Father.  It will be a rough next few days as the time is growing short....  This song has been a favorite of his as his sister used to sing it to him when they were young.  Let me tell you, it was touching to hear Celtic Woman sing this song!

Of course, while we were there we did some shopping!  Found a couple antique malls, and a couple really cool shops!  One we just stumbled upon when looking for an art glass shop Taylor found in the phone book!  This shop was AWESOME!  If I had a shop, it would look really similar to this one!
~~ FONTAINE ~~

There's more...but you'll have to come back for White Wednesday to see!

We also found a pottery shop in a quaint little town called Cambridge.  Unfortunately, we arrived at 4PM, and they rolled the streets up at 5PM!  We did manage to run thru a couple neat places.  The next time we are in the area, we will plan on spending more time here!

Rowe Pottery ~ really cool stuff in here!

Got myself one of these!

Again, there is more from this shop, but will have to wait until White Wednesday!

And last but not least, my found treasures!
Once I figure out how to scan a picture to share with you all, I will get that little picture on here.  It's really cute with a little boy & girl on the front porch of a house.
Found a Pottery Barn at the mall, so I picked up the bird mug for my desk at work.  The pottery mug with the heart on it is from Rowe Pottery.  The little birdy on the side of the nest is actually a clip-on!  Cool!
Was VERY excited to find the door plate!
And Taylor collects boxes (roses on top) and squirrels (green glass)!

Going to try my hand at those cool altered bottles inspired by so many of you!
At $1 each, couldn't pass them up!

Sorry for the long post!
Thanks for bearing with me!
And for stopping by!

Have a great day!
                      Warmly,
                             Lori
